Beth Baumgarten 1st at Ironman! - Taking on her biggest challenge to date, Beth entered Ironman Cozumel for her first race at the 140.6 distance. Not only did she finish a tough course in 13 hours, Beth WON her age group and qualified for Ironman Kona in 2012. Awesome result for a first Ironman, and more evidence that smart, effective training -- the kind we practice at SPORTFIT LAB -- can produce great results.
SPORTFIT athlete completes Ironman - kudos to Nan Dawkins, TEAM SPORTFIT athlete who completed the Ironman Cozumel course. This was Nan's third Ironman race, but her first in several years. It was a very tough day in Cozumel, with heat, wind, and rain all contributing to a challenging course. Way to go Nan!
Coach Beth sets course record - On a beautiful day in Reston, VA, Beth Baumgarten raced to the age-group course record in the Great Pumpkin 5k run. With a time of 22:37, Beth achieved the second-highest age-adjusted score for all women. GO BETH!
SPORTFIT athlete sets PR - congrats to SPORTFIT athlete Sharon Davis, who took first place in her age group at the Run for the Parks 10K race in Washington DC. Sharon set a personal best of 53:03 (8:34 min/mile) and finished 74th overall out of 368 women! Here's more proof that good training programs can create huge gains in speed and endurance!!!
Baumgartens take Third at Nations Tri - with PR's in the bike and run (swim was cancelled due to high water), Beth and Doug combined to take Third Place in the coed relays at Nations Triathlon on Sept. 11, with a total time of 1:55. Having improved every year of the Nations Tri, they are proving that getting older means getting stronger!
Beth B. scores at Triathlon Nationals! - Showing awesome determination, coach Beth swam-biked-ran to her PR at the Age Group National Championships in Burlington VT on August 20th. With a blistering 2:37 time for the Olympic distance, Beth finished in 12th place and secured a spot on TEAM USA for the World Championships next year in New Zealand. Way to go Beth!!
Baumgartens 3rd at Luray International - Beth and Doug finished 3rd among coed relays (all ages) at the Luray International Triathlon on August 13th.

Coach Beth First at Celebration! - In Columbia, MD, Beth Baumgarten won her age group (and all Grand Masters) with a time of 1:49 for this (extended) sprint triathlon. Swim, bike, run, and transitions were all fast and efficient, as she raced her new Guru CR.701 for the first time in competition. With this performance, Beth should qualify for the national championships in Vermont this September.
Baumgartens 3rd at Eagleman - despite a slow start on a hot day, Beth and Doug finished the Eagleman 70.3 race in 5:35 for a third place finish among co-ed relay teams. Although a little disappointed with their performance, they had a great time competing as well as coaching.
Coach Beth #12 in U.S.! - Coming off her second place finish at Columbia, Beth Baumgarten is now ranked #12 in the nation for her age group.
